A growing, welcoming church with a big heart for families.
St John’s is a growing and welcoming church with a heart for families, community, and sharing the good news of Jesus. With lively Sunday worship, a thriving Kid’s Church, and strong links to Thatto Heath Primary School, St John’s is a place where people of all ages can feel at home, explore faith, and grow together.
Worship at St John’s is relaxed, welcoming, and centred on God’s word. Our main Sunday service at 11am includes a mix of modern worship songs and well-loved hymns, led by a blend of live music and digital support. We keep things fairly informal, but structured. We have a busy Kid’s Church each week during the service which is great for primary school aged children.
Once a month, we also hold a quieter 8:30am BCP (Traditional) Communion service, offering space for reflection and tradition.
St John’s Church is located on Crossley Road, St Helens, WA10 3ND. Our church and community centre is fully accessible, with disabled parking at the front and a large car park to the rear.

At St John’s, children and young people are at the heart of our church life. Our Kid’s Church runs every Sunday alongside the main service and is lively, fun, and well attended—especially by families with primary-aged children. We’re currently developing new opportunities for youth engagement, with plans to expand our provision for older children and teens. Everyone is welcome, and we love seeing young people grow
St John’s has been a place of worship, comfort, and celebration for the people of Ravenhead since 1869—marking life’s important events like baptisms, weddings, and funerals with warmth and care.
We enjoy a strong partnership with Thatto Heath Primary School, welcoming pupils for regular visits and supporting their learning about faith and Christian values. We also offer home groups for those wanting to grow deeper in their journey with Jesus, and a range of social activities that help build friendships and community—find out more on our Community page.
St John’s is here to walk with you, whatever season of life you’re in.
